Our Story

Russell Drake Consulting Ltd was founded in 2010 by Russell. Having spent a number of years working in the corporate world gaining experience and knowledge of the operational and organisational workings of different businesses, along with his university qualification, Russell was inspired to forge a new career path, and decided it was time to go it alone.

In October of that same year, the opportunity presented itself to purchase the EMA licence for the Waikato, increasing the client base by 100%.

At the beginning of 2011, looking for a career change, Linda-Maree resigned from her position as a Critical Care Nurse in ICU at Waikato Hospital to work full-time in the business to assist with business development, putting in place systems and processes to enable greater efficiency and room for future growth.

Over the next two years the business continued to grow at a rate of 20% year on year, through new client acquisition and profitability, establishing itself as a recognisable company within the Waikato business community providing practical, legally compliant employment solutions and advice to employers.

Between 2013 and 2018, the company has continued to grow and establish itself as a leading Employment Relations and HR Company. Its growth has been substantial, providing expert advice and support to just under 1000 business owners across New Zealand.

Linda-Maree and Russell have extensive knowledge in business which they utilise to support their clients in all ER & HR decisions.

In 2018 a review of the business operational model saw us leaning towards employing legally trained staff as we continue to expand our team. Our growth will focus on the development of new products for our clients and utilising social media platforms to communicate what we offer to the market.

The last 4 years have been a challenge with epidemics, the current political climate and the changing face of business towards a more moral, ethical basis to why a client will choose to work with your business. Social media has also become an important aspect to marketing, more so than any other time along with the continued adoption of technology. These last two components of business will continue to be important drivers behind any strategy that is adopted.

Our team continues to grow with future plans to increase our market share and increase the resources we have to meet this demand.
